Way back when we launched, we sold an official t-shirt to offset our launch costs. Once the original 200 or so shirts sold, the practice of selling merchandise was discontinued. However due to popular demand and after careful consideration, not to mention mounting redesign and moving cost, we are proud to offer limited edition merchandise.

We will be launching new shirt designs periodically and each design will be available for a limited time before being retired.

We’ve launched the shirt line with a new official design featuring an illustrated example of craniopagus conjoined twins. Cranial union only constitutes about 2% of all conjoined twins making it one of the rarest forms. The shirts are modestly priced at only 25$ Canadian (or about 22$ US) and are printed by Wordans. They ship from both the US and Canada depending on your location and are available now.

Other products, including a 2009 calendar are also in the pipeline.

SANDY ALLEN, THE WORLD’S TALLEST WOMAN, PASSES AWAY

A couple of years ago, I received a call from Sandy Allen in regards to this website and its mission. I recall vividly how, in her booming yet feminine voice, she thanked me for presenting special people in a respectable light. Her kind words of encouragement continue to touch me and the news of her passing truly struck me with a wave of sadness.

Sandy Allen was more that the reigning World’s Tallest Woman. Truly her 7 foot 7 frame was overshadowed by her enormous heart, passion for life and desire to enlighten. Sandy used her height to inspire schoolchildren to accept those who are different.

At the time of this writing the cause of Sandy’s death is unknown but she had been hospitalized in recent months due to diabetes complications.

She was 53 and passed away Wednesday August 13th, 2008.
